Use of solar energy to decrease energy demands

Correctly adjusted shading technology creates an optimal environment in terms of lighting and thermal conditions – it restricts overheating in the interior in the summer and decreases heat loss during the winter. It provides a safety element for facades and creates an anti-noise barrier. It is an important element for saving energy.

Solar energy

The volume of solar energy that falls to Earth each year is many times higher than the complete global demand – it represents unused potential. The average number of hours of solar light in the Czech Republic varies between 1400-1700h/year with an energy of 1100 kWh/m2.

Are we able to utilize this energy? Can we use solar energy to further decrease energy demands and costs?

The solution is hidden within the photovoltaic phenomenon where there is the conversion of light or solar energy to electricity.

The photovoltaic phenomenon in shading technology

The photovoltaic phenomenon plays an important role in shading technology – it uses photovoltaic cells and solar energy. Its choice significantly influences technical parameters, client satisfaction and energy demands.

It is generally stated that during the use of shading technology and its consideration in the required air-conditioning or heating system outputs, depending on the specific object, energy consumption savings are within the range 20-25% of the energy balance of the building.

By using solar energy for producing electricity in the interior grid system controlled by engines and applying it to further shading products, the systems will become independent of the external energy source with zero consumption of electricity.

ISOTRA ENERGY solar blinds

ISOTRA ENERGY is a completely unique, motor-driven interior shading that functions on the principle of converting solar energy into electricity. A solar solution based on wire-free control of blinds is independent of an external energy source and during installation does not require any reconstruction and intervention into the interior or exterior.

It concerns an autonomous interior shading system with wire-free control and the option of programming an automated regime of functions depending on the day, time, season and usage. The energy autonomy of the system is ensured by the solar photovoltaic cell system - NiMH accumulator.

The photovoltaic cell is located on the rear of the upper profile of the blind. The accumulator is charged by an amorphous photovoltaic cell even in the case of low lighting intensity, which is a further advantage of this system. Therefore the blind can be tilted, lowered and lifted depending on lower intensity of light and during the winter months. Without the light the accumulator capacity ensures 50-200 full lifting and lowering of the blind (according to the size of the blind).

The control system for the blind enables wireless communication with the control unit which enables the possibility to control the movement of one or a group of blinds (enables control of up to 150 blinds) independently or at the same time from a distance of up to 150 m. The programmable control unit allows a time sequence to be set for movement – blinds can open at a certain hour, fully lift up or fully close.

The intelligent element of the modern house is the external wireless solar regulator. On the basis of the selected setting, it independently reacts to the intensity of solar radiation by tilting the lamellas of one or a group of blinds at the same time.

The simplicity and compact character of the construction enables the application of the ISOTRA ENERGY system when replacing existing driving systems without the need to modify the window or door frames.

ISOTRA ENERGY solar blinds can be fitted to all types of plastic or wooden windows. The wide range of available colours enables the possibility to coordinate the window frame or the interior.

ISOTRA ENERGY represents a synergy of design, practicality, utility and energy saving.
