Kitchen windows: the best way to shade them and prevent insects from entering
A kitchen window is an extremely useful thing – fresh air in a few minutes and, in addition, a view of the greenery while washing dishes. However, one concern is apparent: how best to block sunlight so that the shading does not suffer from airborne grease and splashes of water or food particles? And how to prevent insects from moving into the kitchen when ventilating?

Exterior shading: hidden behind a window

Exterior shading, of course, does not suffer from greasy air or splashes of oil when frying and water when washing dishes. Exterior blinds are a little more suitable for the kitchen, because in the kitchen we need smoother regulation of daylight, which blinds offer, rather than the total blackout that roller shutters allow. In the ISOTRA offer you can choose from several different shapes and sizes of slats – the simple Cetta in the shape of letter C looks light and graceful, while the Zetta slats offer more thorough darkening and noise insulation.

Provided you decide on roller shutters, elegant solution to both problems is an exterior roller shutter with integrated insect screen – called Vivera roller shutter in the ISOTRA offer. If you deal with kitchen shading within the project of your family house, you can choose the under-plaster version integrated into the Porotherm lintel.

Houseplants suitable for the kitchen

  • geranium can handle high temperatures
  • spider ivy is unassuming and purifies the air
  • philodendron has easily washable leaves
  • ornamental chili peppers will complete the atmosphere
  • basil, mint, parsley, chives and other herbs will come in handy directly in cooking

Interior shading: pay attention to maintenance

Horizontal blinds with aluminium slats will not suffer from splashing water or food, but it can be difficult to clean them from grease. Fabric shading, such as vertical blinds or roller shutters, will not suffer as much from grease deposits and, if the material is chosen carefully, it will not be difficult to maintain them. For example, non-flammable fabrics Trevira CS or plastic material Glass fibre-PVC are easily washable.

Carefully wipe grease on the kitchen blinds with a sponge soaked in dishwashing liquid.

Insect screens

You don't have to worry about having to drill into the frame - you can have modern insect screens with no drilling. In addition, current materials require almost no maintenance and their frame can be coloured to match the windows, facade or interior. We wrote about window screens here.

Japanese walls - a state-of-the-art and elegant supplement to your interior
Large glass areas in the interior tend to be a dominant feature. Optically, they make the room larger, they are synonymous with luxury, and more and more clients ask for such elements in their houses. Their disadvantage is that not every type of shading technique suits them well.

Shading the Sunroom in the Summer: How to Do It?
The sunroom is one of the most popular places in the house during virtually every season. With the arrival of summer, however, many people are starting to avoid it, especially when high temperatures turn it into a hot greenhouse rather than a nice place to rest. That's too bad. And yet, it takes relatively little. With the correct, practical, and smart shading, you can enjoy staying in the sunroom all year long in comfort and without restrictions.
