What blinds are suitable for plastic windows?
Plastic windows are a very common part of modern homes and offices today. However, to make them as functional as possible and matching the interior at the same time, it is important to choose the right type of shading. Blinds not only regulate the amount of light in the room, but also contribute to thermal insulation and privacy. Well, what types of blinds are best for plastic windows?

 1. Interior blinds - a classic choice with easy installation

Interior horizontal blinds are among the most commonly used types of shading for plastic windows. They are affordable, easy to install and offer effective light regulation.

Aluminium blinds are the most common option, resistant to moisture and easy to maintain. They provide good protection from sunlight and at the same time allow for smooth light regulation.

Our offer of interior blinds consists of several different product lines, each with its own purpose and specifics. All the product lines of interior shading feature high quality, modern design and affordable price.

Interior blinds are installed directly on the window frame with no need for drilling (using special brackets), or with drilling into a glazing slat.

2. Plissé blinds – elegant and variable

Plissé blinds are a modern solution that offers a wide variability of shading. They can be pulled from top to bottom and from bottom to top, which allows precise adjustment of shading.

  • They are excellent for atypical window shapes, such as triangular or circular openings.
  • They are available in a wide range of colours and patterns.
  • Some variants have a special thermal insulation surface that helps regulate temperature in the room.

3. Day and night – multifunctional roller shutters for smooth light regulation

“Day and night” blinds combine the properties of regular blinds and roller shutters. They consist of transparent and opaque strips that can be overlapped as desired.

These are the main advantages of day and night blinds:

  • They allow for smooth adjustment of lighting conditions in the room.
  • They impart a modern look to interior.
  • They can be installed without drilling using brackets on the window frame.

4. Exterior blinds – maximum protection and energy saving

Exterior blinds are an optimal choice if you are looking for effective solution to regulate temperature in the room. Thanks to installation on the outside of the window, they can reduce heat in the summer and prevent heat loss in the winter.

  • They are made of durable aluminium, which ensures long life and resistance to weather conditions.
  • They are great for low-energy and passive houses.
  • They can be operated manually or electrically.

5. Fabric roller shutters – a minimalist alternative to blinds

If you prefer a more subtle and minimalist look, fabric roller shutters can be a convenient alternative. They offer large design options and various degrees of translucency.

Blackout roller shutters are ideal for bedrooms and rooms where complete darkness is needed. Blackout window roller shutters are intended mainly for office buildings and schools, as they prioritize functionality over design.

6. Japanese blinds or roller shutters

Japanese blinds (also known as Japanese roller shutters or panel walls) can also be used to shade plastic windows. Japanese blinds consist of several wide fabric strips that move along a rail system. They are usually used to shade larger glass areas, such as French windows or sliding doors, but they can also be used as a design element in the interior.

Japanese blinds need space to instal the rails (on the ceiling or on the wall above the window). If you have regular plastic windows with a window sill, their use may be limited.

Japanese blinds may be impractical for regular windows, as they are primarily designed for large areas. If plastic windows take up a larger part of the wall (for example, in combination with a balcony door), Japanese blinds can be a great solution.

Japanese blinds can therefore be used on plastic windows, but they are most suitable for large glazed areas, balconies or French windows. If you are looking for a solution for regular smaller plastic windows, horizontal blinds, plissé blinds or day and night roller shutters will be a more suitable choice.

Well, what blinds should you choose then?

The choice of blinds depends primarily on your requirements and interior style. If you are looking for an affordable and simple solution, interior aluminium blinds are the perfect choice. Plissé blinds, Japanese blinds or day and night roller shutters are suitable for modern interiors. If you are interested in energy saving and maximum protection from the sun, exterior blinds are the best option.

And moreover, do not forget to consider the method of installation - if you do not want to drill into the window frame, choose blinds with installation with no drilling. Whichever type you choose, properly selected blinds will not only improve your living comfort, but also enhance the aesthetics of your home. We will be happy to help you choose the right blinds for your plastic windows. We are ISOTRA, experts on shading.
