How to choose outdoor shading: Blinds or roller shutters?

How to choose outdoor shading: Blinds or roller shutters?
It's not just about light control: outdoor shading can also improve thermal and noise insulation, save energy and increase security. Which solution is better for you - window blinds or outdoor blinds?

Outdoor blinds: Maximum light control

Outdoor blinds are made of slats that can be tilted to different angles and thus smoothly regulate the amount of light and privacy. You can choose the shape of the slats according to your personal taste and how much darkening you want when the blinds are fully drawn. Z- or S-shaped slats, which fit perfectly into each other, provide the best darkening. At the same time, you don't have to pull them out when you need light for everyday activities - by tilting the slats into the room, you get exactly as much light as you need.

You probably won't put them on a half-timbered house and they won't fit perfectly on a prefabricated house facade either. However, they will also ideally match the design of windows in modern buildings or contemporary family houses - you can choose the style of the slats and the color according to your taste. In addition, they will protect the house from excessive overheating in summer and, conversely, heat loss through the window panes in winter. And let's not forget about security: if you want to feel more secure against forced entry, the Titan 90 security model of outdoor blinds is ideal for you.

And what about the control? The handle is a classic, but nowadays it would be a shame not to use an electric drive and not connect the blinds to your smart home.

Window blinds: Complete blackout

Window blinds consist of interconnected slats that roll up into a box above the window. When closed, they provide almost complete darkness and excellent thermal insulation. They hide in an inconspicuous box above windows in buildings of all styles and ages. There is probably no better choice for complete darkness in the bedroom.

But every coin has two sides, of course: roller blinds do not allow for smooth light regulation. If you need a sufficiently lit interior and want privacy, you want to supplement them with some kind of internal shading. Plisse blinds with light fabric are ideal.

You can also connect outdoor blinds to a smart home and have them automatically raised every morning as a complement to your alarm clock - or instead of it.

How to decide?

Do you need a really thorough blackout, an additional barrier against intrusion into the home through the windows or do you live in an area where it really freezes in the winter? Window blinds are the obvious choice. Would you like to get by with one shade that allows you to darken and regulate the light at the same time, and do you also like a modern design and elegant look? Choose between outdoor blinds. You can also combine: roller blinds in the bedrooms to ensure a peaceful sleep, in the living room - especially if it is on the other side of the house - blinds for better light control.
