When children slept on a tiled stove
In our great-grandmothers' time, a tiled stove with a bed was common - the kind that dumb Johnny used to roll around on or the children from the nursery rhyme “I'm telling a story” slept on. You can have a tiled stove with a heated bed built today: its main advantage is that ceramic stoves release heat for a long time and keep you warm even after the fire has gone out. If you need to quickly heat your cottage several times a year and you are not interested in a long release of heat, a fireplace stove with a sheet metal casing will be suitable for you. The advantages of both types are combined to a certain extent by cast iron stoves, which heat up quickly and can also accumulate heat.
Somewhere between the romance of a wood stove and the practicality of a gas stove is a pellet stove: thanks to the automatic feeder and large pellet tank, heating is practically as comfortable as with a gas stove, but at the same time, thanks to the combustion of pellets, it is ecological and, in addition, it retains the possibility of observing the soothing dance of flames behind the glass door.

Electric, gas and other modern heaters
For apartments with no central heating, or for family houses where there is either a problem with the chimney or we simply do not want to deal with constant stoking, the solution is to buy a gas or electric heater. Gas heaters most often use LPG cylinders, while electric storage heaters are able to accumulate electricity from consumption during the cheaper parts of the day ("night power"). In addition to energy-saving heaters, you can also save on heating by making sure that there is no draft anywhere in your apartment. Screen roller shutters or exterior blinds will help you keep ideal thermal conditions at home.

Multifuel heaters can also be purchased. They can operate on both gas and electricity. When operating on gas, you can place them anywhere, even beyond reach of a socket, but if the gas cylinder runs out, you will not be left without heat.
Heat and flames with no chimney? Try electric or alcohol fireplace
Don't have a chimney, but still want to warm up by a heater and watch the mesmeric flickering of flames? There is a space-saving wall-mounted electric fireplace that offers realistic fire effects and easy and safe control. But if you insist on real flames, a bio-alcohol fireplace is the solution. You don't need firewood, you don't have to worry about conducting smoke and other emissions away. However, bio-alcohol fireplaces have a relatively low calorific value and need to be ventilated after burning out, so they are more of a design element than a fully-fledged heating system.
