Sitting area at home and outdoor living room
The traditional use of a pergola is sitting area at home, ideally with a door or French window leading into the space under the pergola. A pergola adjacent to the house actually creates another room, which can be used practically all year round if a bioclimatic pergola is used. Folding slats will block out rain, snow and the unpleasantly hot sun, and if you add blinds or heating to the pergola, you can enjoy your afternoon coffee outside in spring, autumn or winter.

Playhouse
Give a pergola to your children? And why not? It only takes a few years for them to grow up. Make them happy and move a kitchen, swings and other play elements into the pergola. You can even set up your own summer kitchen there and cook side by side.
Summer kitchen and party space
The most rewarding use of a pergola is definitely: move cooking outside, at least during the summer. An entire summer kitchen can be located under the pergola (for example, from discarded cabinets from an old kitchen unit), where you can prepare cold snacks and also grill. And your outdoor parties under the pergola will soon become famous!

Carport
You don't have to deal with building permits for a garage and you avoid having to shovel your car in the winter or damage it with hail. A pergola as a carport is also more airy than a classic garage and can accommodate bicycles, other sports equipment or even garden tools.
Island in the middle of the garden

A pergola does not always have to be located directly next to the house. A four-post version can form the natural center of the garden. Especially if the garden is large and overgrown, a freestanding pergola provides an oasis of peace and relaxation. Alternatively, you can also use the pergola as a covered passage from the house to the pool.
